Introducing York’s first independent Walk Cycle Forum!
**The Forum was active between 2017 and 2019. It was independently chaired by Sheridan Piggott of York Bike Belles. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for any enquiries**
The Forum has been initiated by community groups and City of York Council to bring together walking and cycling stakeholders across the city and grow walking and cycling for the benefit of community health and safety, the environment, city access and mobility, economic vitality and improved quality of life for everyone in York.
The Forum works together to share provision and knowledge, improve relationships, communication and coordination, develop collaborative initiatives, adopt a solutions-based approach to overcome challenges and lead progress towards a strong walking and cycling culture in the city.
Representatives from a diverse range of areas are invited to each session – Councillors, City of York Council Transport, Public Health, Planning, Road Safety, Colleges and Universities, Bike Shops, cycling and walking delivery organisations and groups, heritage, research, environmental, community, disability organisations and groups, sustainability and business networks, schools, workplaces, creative industries, campaigning, independents and more!
The Forum meets quarterly and is independently chaired by Sheridan Piggott of York Bike Belles.
Attendance at Forum sessions is open to the everyone, but with limited spaces. This is to keep the sessions manageable as we have had very high interest in attendance. Sessions are relaxed and informal with light refreshments provided. They usually take place at the Vinyl cafe on Micklegate and have been described as “convivial” 🙂
Notes and relevant session documents are always posted online and a link sent round to a circulation list when this is updated.
